A motorboat capsized at the Ossiacher See in Carinthia on Thursday. A mother and her two children were taken to the LKH Villach. Several fire brigades and rescue services were deployed.
A motorboat capsized on Thursday just before the shipping pier at Ossiach Abbey. “The boat filled up with water. Everything must have happened very quickly,” says Nikolaj Netrval, head of the Austrian water rescue service in Ossiach.
There were six people on the boat, three adults and three children. “They managed to get to safety in time. A mother and her two children were in shock and were taken to hospital for an examination,” Netrval said. The other three people were unharmed.
It is still unclear why the accident happened. The boat was lifted out of the water with a crane and loaded. The motorboat is now being checked in a workshop for technical defects. There was a brief oil leak, but the fire brigade quickly got it under control.
