A tragedy for many a classic car enthusiast took place in Perwolfs in the municipality of Altmelon in the Lower Austrian district of Zwettl. The 30-year-old owner of the vehicle drove it to a festival. After the ceremony, he preferred to leave the vehicle and walked home. Leaving the car key in the ignition turned out to be a serious mistake.
The Opel Ascona, which was completely damaged after a rollover and was parked on a meadow in the municipality of Altmelon in the Zwettl district, was not hidden from the sharp eyes of a newspaper deliverer: he found the green old-timer without a driver and called the police.
The police are looking for thief
He tried to reach the vehicle owner from the neighboring municipality of Arbesbach, and a survey in the nearby hospitals for road victims was unsuccessful. Hours later, law enforcement reached the 30-year-old owner, who insisted that after attending a festival, he left his classic car with the key on and walked home. This in turn opened the “door and ignition lock” for an unauthorized person to drive the Opel.
Driver accident must be injured
Police rule out that the owner was driving because he had no injuries to his body. But that doesn’t seem possible after such an accident. Now the thief is being sought.
