Large-scale operation required – Loacker-Halle in Vorarlberg was under full fire

Date:

In Lustenau (Vorarlberg) there was a large-scale action by the fire brigade on Friday night. A hall at the Loacker firm was on fire. The state pharmacist was also involved in the incident.

On Thursday around 9:30 p.m., a large fire broke out at the recycling company Loacker in Lustenau. A mighty column of smoke could be seen from afar and one of the corridors was on fire. The alarmed fire brigade first had to secure the hall, so that the fire could not spread to other buildings. It could not be ruled out that highly toxic halogenated substances also burned. For this reason, the state chemist was sent to the scene of the fire. Fortunately, he discovered that there was no danger in this regard.

In the end, the Floriani disciples quickly had the fire under control. The burned-off substances were brought outside with the help of a wheel storage, where they could be completely extinguished by the fire brigade. A test carried out on the pollutant load in the air showed a normal value. So there was never any danger to the surrounding population. The railway line between Lustenau and Hard-Fußach had to be completely closed due to the operation.

It is still unclear what caused the fire. Three firefighters were injured during the action. At least one person is suspected of smoke inhalation.
