And suddenly the sky darkened – the mood was doomsday… The little family was in a shopping street in the afternoon when they were surprised by the storm. “It all happened so fast,” the family man recalls. They took shelter in a bar and waited for the worst to pass.
Shopping street completely destroyed
When they left the restaurant, they could hardly believe their eyes. The shopping street was destroyed: tables, chairs and various objects were lying on the street. A fallen tree blocked their way. Even though the Vienna had imagined something different for their short vacation, they approach the debacle with humor. “The holiday is certainly not going to end, otherwise a crying child will come,” jokes the father. The holidaymakers will leave for home on Sunday, until then they hope that the stormy weather will not come.
Beach towels gone with the wind
A Viennese couple, on the other hand, was unlucky: at 2 p.m., the two briefly left the beach to get out of their hotel room. “On the balcony we suddenly saw very dark clouds coming our way very quickly and suddenly it started,” the woman reports. Wild scenes were then presented to the couple from the terrace. Pedestrians raced back and forth through the area as it came pouring down from the sky. Some time later the weather calmed down again. However, they did not find the towels that the couple had left on the beach.

But Friday’s storm was not the only exceptional situation the couple experienced. On Wednesday evening, the man captured an amazing display of lights as they looked into the sky on his mobile phone. The light showers soon became an afterthought as the sky began to flash. For three hours the sky was occasionally dotted with purple lightning. So the couple summed it up: “The weather was more spectacular than the resort itself.”

Before the storm reached Jesolo, a shocking extreme event occurred in Milan at 11:15 am. Residents of the municipality of Cernusco sul Naviglio, east of Milan, watched as a tornado left a trail of destruction through their home.
A video posted to Twitter shows the funnel cloud. In the northeast of Milan alone, fire brigades had to go on 110 missions. In addition to storm damage, there were also numerous flooded streets and basements.
Storm moves to Austria
According to the storm center UWZ, the storm is now moving towards Austria. Even though the storm is not as severe as in Italy, you have to expect rain showers and strong winds.
