A family of nine had to be evacuated in Jenbach (Tyrol) on Friday after a fire broke out in their apartment. Three people were taken to hospital for suspected smoke inhalation. The fire is believed to have been started by a child playing.
On Friday around 3 p.m., a fire broke out in an apartment on the 1st floor of an apartment building in Jenbach. When the residents said they had noticed the fire, they fled the apartment. Two witnesses, a 23-year-old Austrian and a 41-year-old Turk, who noticed the fire from the outside at the same time, rushed into the apartment to help the family.
The company fire brigade was also alerted
The Jenbach Volunteer Fire Department, with 30 firefighters and 5 vehicles, and the Innio Jenbacher company fire brigade, with nine firefighters and three vehicles, then carried out the firefighting.
Family of 9 cared for by emergency services
The residents of the affected apartment, a family of 9, received first aid from the rescuers in a safe place in the apartment building. The mother, like the two witnesses, was taken to hospital in Schwaz with suspected smoke inhalation to clarify possible injuries. Meanwhile, the father, who was not in the apartment, also arrived on the scene.
House vacated
Local residents were also evacuated from the residential building because of the fire. Based on information provided by the family involved, it cannot be ruled out that a minor child of the family may have contributed to the fire with a lighter found by chance. Further investigations are underway into the cause of the fire. The fire caused property damage of an undisclosed amount.
