Not a day goes by without a thunderstorm. On Saturday evening, the clatter started again, especially in Klagenfurt and in the vicinity of Villach, which worries garden and car owners: hail.
The thunderstorm lasted only briefly over Klagenfurt, which again shot hailstones from the sky from about 4 p.m.
The birds soon began to sing again, but the sirens also blared. According to the national alarm and warning center, the fire brigades had to complete 15 missions. There had been floods. The train had to temporarily stop running. Larger damage is not (yet) known.
Geosphere meteorologists mark the chance of thunderstorms in large parts of Carinthia for Saturday with orange. That means: “Please note, the current weather situation can lead to disruptions in daily life and/or cause damage.” There may be lightning strikes, wind gusts, fallen trees and associated damage until 9 p.m. Saturday night. On Sunday it would have calmed down again: the meteorologists’ map is green.
