The Russian gas giant Gazprom has the gas supply to Europe through the Yamal gas pipeline, through Poland, after Russia imposed sanctions against the Polish owner of that section, EuroPol GAZthe company said in a statement on Thursday.

“In accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 3 and the government resolution of May 11, sanctions were imposed on a number of foreign companies. Among them is EuRoPol GAZ, the owner of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline” said the Gazprom spokesman, Sergei Kuprinov

The transnational gas pipeline Yamal-Europe crosses the territory of four countries: Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany Its capacity is: 32.9 billion cubic meters of gas per year

Recently, this route for transporting gas to Europe has been practically not used due to the lack of requests from European consumers, according to the official agency TASS.

Gazprom has already been suspended end of April “completely” the gas, not just to Poland (through the gas distributor PGNiG), but also Bulgaria (bulgargaz), for refusing to pay for supplies in rublesas demanded by Russian President Vladimir Putin in another March 31 decree.

Russia on Wednesday put 31 foreign energy companies, including EuRoPol Gaz, on Moscow’s sanctions list and will therefore “not be able to participate in the process of supplying gas from Russia,” the Kremlin said.

The companies sanctioned include companies from Germany, France and other European countries, as well as the US and Singapore.

In particular, the list included the former European subsidiaries of Gazprom (Gazprom Germany, Gazprom Switzerland, Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA), like Vemex, Wingas, EuRoPol GAZ and underground storage managers.
