Dramatic scenes took place on the shore of Lake Constance on Saturday: a 73-year-old man wanted to clean his boat in the harbor of Hard and suddenly collapsed. Courageous eyewitnesses came to the aid of the man and his partner.
A boat owner was in mortal danger on Saturday evening: the 73-year-old moored his boat to a floating pontoon in the Harde Industriehaven and then wanted to clean it outside. During this work, the 73-year-old suddenly became short of breath. Fortunately, his partner noticed this and tried to stop the man. He lost consciousness and the woman called for help.
Courageous eyewitnesses walking along the shore immediately rushed to the couple and helped the woman pull her partner onto the boat. Because the 73-year-old was no longer breathing, the first responders started resuscitation measures. After the arrival of the emergency medical team, they took over the man’s medical care – and actually got his circulation back. When the patient was transportable, he was taken to Feldkirch State Hospital. The water rescue service, paramedics, police, fire brigade, the crisis intervention team and a rescue helicopter were deployed, among others.
