Another driver in Vienna lost his courage and attacked protesting climate stickers on the Naschmarkt. In doing so, a member of the Last Generation was beaten. The driver ended up in court in Vienna.
Not the first trial in the Wiener Landl against drivers who panicked because of a climate blockade. On Tuesday, a father of three, Austrian with Serbian roots, took his place in court.
On the way to a workshop appointment
Delayed, but not this time by the activists, the 35-year-old describes the incident on May 5, as he made his way to the workshop for the sticker: “I had missed an appointment two days earlier because of these gentlemen. I was 40 “Stuck in traffic for minutes on the Reichsbrücke. They sat down again on the Naschmarkt. Right in front of me. I then had a blackout.”
Hit protesters with a bumper
A video shows the scenes. First, the burly man drags a demonstrator off the street by his sweater. “Boy are you stupid? You better go to Parliament and jump like a monkey,” he yelled at the member of the last generation. He then started his car and hit a person involved with the bumper.
80 hours of community service
“I was not injured,” says the activist as a witness. That makes the judge merciful – distraction, namely 80 hours of community service, for which the procedure is closed.
