In concrete terms, petrol is 1.82% more expensive than last week, with a price of 1.68 euros per litre. Diesel also records increases (+3.4%) to 1,552 euros per liter for the fifth consecutive week.
The average fuel price has continued its upward trend this week and is already experiencing its fifth consecutive week of increase this summer, reaching its maximum price so far in 2023 in the case of gasoline, coinciding with the prelude to the August bridge.
Specifically, gasoline is 1.82% more expensive than last week, with a price of 1.68 euros per liter. Thus, it climbs to its maximum value since the penultimate week of the year 2022, when the price per liter was 1,688, according to data from the European Union Oil Bulletin.
For its part, the average diesel price also experienced its fifth consecutive week of increases (+3.4%) to reach 1,552 euros the litre, a level that had not been the same since the end of March.
With these new increases, the price of both fuels also surpasses the level they reached before the outbreak of war in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion that began on February 24, 2022, which, in the case of diesel, amounted to 1,479 euros per liter , and for petrol 1,594 euros per litre.
This upward spiral in the price of fuels takes place a few hours after the start of the August bridgeone of the holiday periods in which more road vehicle movements are expected in the year.
However, both fuels remain far from the highs they reached about a year ago, when petrol reached EUR 2,141 in July and diesel reached EUR 2.1.
At these prices, filling an average 55-litre diesel tank currently equates to approx 85.3 euroscompared to 103.9 euros – about 18.6 euros more – it cost around this time last year, including the discount of 20 cents per liter that was in effect a year ago.
In the case of petrol, filling an average 55 liter tank currently costs approx €92.4about eleven euros less than the 104.5 euros it cost in the same period of 2022.
