During the heavy storms in Lower Carinthia, beautiful wild carp washed up on a field in Eberndorf on Lake Gösselsdorf. A major rescue operation starts today. The “Krone” is on site.
Not only people are victims of the heavy storms, also many animals. Countless streams and lakes have overflowed their banks, taking countless fish with them. In the municipality of Eberndorf, numerous large wild carp are currently trapped in a flooded field. “They were swept out of Lake Gösselsdorf via the Seebach,” explains community leader Matthias Burtscher.
A rescue plan was promptly drawn up to professionally salvage the fish. “Animals are also important to us, which is why I even called the lake research department of the state of Carinthia to clarify everything,” emphasizes Burtscher. The fire brigade, employees of the municipal office and affected residents are also looking forward to the special rescue operation. Everyone wants to help.
Experts must also be present for the carp to survive the rescue. “We at the Waller Jauntal fishing club have a large water tank in which the fish can then be safely transported back to Lake Gösselsdorf,” says fisherman Karl Sakl. However, the lifeguards have to secure themselves with ropes, because you sink to your waist in the field. The “Krone” is part of the rescue operation.
