Anita Aichinger works in the creative tension between theatrical blood and the Thonet chair. She gave the “Krone” an insight into her work as a master of props – an often bloody affair.
I love Salzburg as a place – and especially the festival.” Anita Aichinger says this with the conviction that any doubt about this would be sacrilegious. As head of the props department, she “enjoys the means of the extraordinary with great pleasure. It involves a certain generosity without waste.” So she lets the starch agent Mondamin in the supermarket produce theater blood herself for cost reasons. In combination with beetroot juice, which is sometimes used until the dress rehearsal because it is cheaper than the red juice supplied by a specialized German company. “A liter costs about 30 euros,” says Aichinger.
