Tricky Mission – Can (and will) measure “the normal”?

Date:

What is normal? There will be heated discussions about this this summer. Unlike Löwen in Berlin, ‘normality’ really does exist – and has existed for a very long time. Moreover, much larger calibers have puzzled over it in the past than today…

“Words are great for arguing, words can be used to prepare a system, words are great for believing, a word cannot steal an iota.” This is what it says in the first part of “Faust” in the second study room scene. The sentences are addressed to a student who has just arrived at Dr. Faust and asks for tips for his studies. The man in the robe, whom he mistakes for Faust, generally advises him to keep to the words. They are readily available (unlike drafts) and very helpful in discourse. Significantly, however, the tipster is not Faust, but Mephisto, the devil.
