The man who traveled as a passenger of his wife from the Montafon Innerberg to Bartholomäberg on Friday afternoon must have been extremely restless. He took a cyclist’s hand gesture as a provocation and wanted to confront the man, which eventually ended in an accident in which one person was injured.
Around 3.10 pm, three people rode their bicycles on the L94 from Innerberg towards Bartholomäberg. Directly in front of the Fernblick hotel, one of the three cyclists pointed to the hotel with his left hand. A 59-year-old, who was a passenger in a car driven by his wife and was directly behind the group of bicycles, took this arm signal as a provocation.
Woman had to stop car
He opened the passenger window first and shouted something to the cyclists. He then instructed his wife to stop the car in front of the wheel group. The passenger then opened the vehicle’s door to confront the cyclists.
Cyclist slammed into passenger door
A 62-year-old cyclist was unable to brake in time despite an emergency stop, collided with the open passenger door and fell. The cyclist suffered injuries of unknown severity and was admitted to Bludenz State Hospital after first aid.
