Incredible scenes in the Bavarian Alps: During a mountain tour, a mountain guide discovers a woman in need and offers her his help. When her companion appeared shortly afterwards, the helper suffered a fracture of the maxillary sinus.
The 45-year-old alpinist was on Saturday with a group of five on the Mittenwalder Höhenweg – a not harmless via ferrata in the western Karwendel Mountains – when he discovered the shaking and uncertain-looking woman. To help her, he tied her to the rope with her own via ferrata set.
To help her, the mountain guide quickly secured the woman with a via ferrata on the rope, German media report. However, the woman may have misunderstood this and suddenly started screaming. The man finally released the fuse and continued the tour with his group.
Punched in the face with head and fist
However, the male companion gave chase – after about 30 minutes he overtook the mountain guide and hit him several times in the face with his head and fist on a steep point. As the witnesses reported, the alpinist briefly lost consciousness – he suffered a fractured maxillary sinus as a result of the attack.
The police immediately launched a large manhunt, but have not been able to locate the couple so far.
