After the fire on a construction train on Sunday evening between Übersee and Traunstein in Bavaria, train traffic on the so-called “Deutsches Eck” between Tyrol and Salzburg will probably be noticeably limited until 4 am on Saturday. This was announced by ÖBB on Monday evening. Long-distance traffic within Austria between the two federal states was also affected by the blockages.
From Tuesday, every second Railjet and Railjet Express train will run via the “Deutsche Eck” (Salzburg – Kufstein) in track replacement traffic, it was also said.
Change trains in Salzburg or Kufstein
For this you have to change at the main station of Salzburg and Kufstein in Tyrol.
No Railjets between Salzburg and Munich
The RJX connections between Salzburg and Munich are no longer used. Alternatively, passengers can transfer to the RE 5 local trains of the Bavarian Regional Railways (BRB), tickets would be accepted, the railways said. The night trains should not be affected by the restrictions.
Because 3,000 liters of diesel fuel leaked, the soil in the affected area had to be excavated and the destroyed rail infrastructure repaired. On this route, the trains can only run at a greatly reduced speed, which, together with the (still standing) border controls, leads to delays, it was said earlier.
After a total shutdown imposed by the government, a job was finally released again on Monday afternoon.
Train passengers were asked to find out more about their railway company. The timetable changes are also regularly updated in the ÖBB timetable information “Scotty”, the ÖBB managers stressed.
