Tragic accident in the bathing lake in Rutzing (Upper Austria). A 55-year-old man suddenly lost consciousness while swimming and floated lifeless in the water. The accident was quickly noticed, but all help came too late.
The 55-year-old from Marchtrenk swam on Sunday around 6.15 p.m. in Hörsching near the Rutzingersee on the east bank towards the west bank. For reasons not yet known, he may have lost consciousness and floated motionless on the surface of the water.
Witnesses noticed drama
Other bathers and the 32-year-old son soon noticed that something was wrong. The rescue chain was quickly set in motion. A 28-year-old and his 25-year-old brother paddled a stand-up board to the 55-year-old and got him out of the water.

Resuscitation measures were immediately taken on land. The rescue helicopter, the rescue service Traun, the HÄND Traun, the FF Rutzing, the FF Traun and a police patrol were ordered to deploy them. The 55-year-old was resuscitated by rescuers and taken to a hospital in Linz, where he died shortly afterwards.
