A pensioner (70) from the district of St. Veit an der Glan (Carinthia) had to be resuscitated during the holidays after being pulled with a piece of clothing into the combine harvester’s running Troad snail in Glanegg.
Around 12:30 p.m., the man himself was busy with lubrication work on a combine harvester. He opened the lid of the granary and ended up with a piece of clothing in the running Troad snail, which pulled him in, trapping him and seriously injuring him.
With hand gestures he managed to attract the attention of a passer-by in time, who immediately set the rescue chain in motion.
cardiac arrest
A nearby farmer was able to disable the combine harvester and free the injured man from his position. The victim went into cardiac arrest due to the serious injuries.
The victim was resuscitated by the ambulance service. The 70-year-old was then flown to the clinic in Klagenfurt by rescue helicopter RK1.
