Mayday: A training flight ended with an emergency landing on Tuesday. The pilot of the small aircraft “Cessna 182” landed uncontrollably on the runway in Hofkirchen im Traunkreis, spun across the road, rolled over and landed on the roof. The four occupants were lucky, only two were slightly injured.
A small plane overturned on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on landing at Hofkirchen Airport in the Traunkreis. A 54-year-old from Lengau took off on his training flight in Salzburg and made stopovers in Mühldorf and Schärding. His wife (50) and the 36-year-old co-pilot from Wals-Siezenheim suffered minor injuries.
The pilot himself and his 13-year-old daughter, who also flew with him, escaped unhurt.
700,000 euros in damage
The 54-year-old wanted to bring the small plane of the model “Cessna 182” to the ground on the 550 meter long runway. However, the aircraft landed only at an angle of 300 meters and uncontrolled on the tarmac, spun across the road, ended up in an adjacent field, rolled over and landed on the roof. The 36-year-old wife and the pilot’s wife were taken to hospital, and the Cessna was a total loss of $700,000.
