Three people from the Vöcklabruck district in Upper Austria, a 29-year-old woman and two men aged 23 and 26, took a holiday walk from Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer via the Riemannhaus to the Schönfeldspitze in Salzburg. However, a woman was killed after the group was caught in a storm.
During the early afternoon descent, the hiking group was surprised by a hailstorm. At an altitude of about 2580 meters, the 29-year-old woman fell without outside influence and then fell about 200 meters into steep rocky terrain south of the summit.
The companions immediately contacted the emergency services. However, the emergency doctor was only able to determine the death of the woman. All help came too late for them.
