After the chase – adventurous justifications of a smuggler

Date:

Trial in Eisenstadt: A smuggler, of all people, suffering from paranoia, engaged in a wild chase with the police. The man (36) had 20 people on board, including eight children. He had used cocaine before driving.

Things are moving pretty slowly this week at the Eisenstadt Regional Court: Seven lawsuits for illegal transportation of people are scheduled, two are already over – including the possibly most exciting one.

Van had a special offer
The 36-year-old Turk Osan A., who has lived in Germany since 2006 and lives on welfare there for a year and a half, has applied for a pension because he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. The reaction of the authorities took a long time and that must have strained the nerves too much. “I needed rest and drove to Hungary alone,” says A., who had borrowed a seven-seater van with tinted windows for this purpose. “Because it was on sale.”

Now the navigation system should be crazy too. The 36-year-old’s car was stopped in Croatia and 15 undocumented migrants were on board. “I can’t remember that at all,” said A., who was allowed to continue for whatever reason.

Don’t let anyone stand in the rain!
Only four days later he met a friend from Germany in Hungary, purely by chance of course. “He asked me if I could drive 200 kilometers with ten or twelve people and offered me 1,500 euros.” Because he had snorted cocaine, he was emotionally disabled and agreed. 20 Turks were waiting in a forest. “I let a few people get in and drove off.” After 500 meters A stopped. “I felt sorry for the people in the rain.” So with all of them on board, and with twelve adults, five boys and three girls on board, we could leave for Vienna.

Girl kicked out of car
The car crossed the border at the Helenenschacht in Ritzing. On the A3 at the Müllendorf exit, a civilian patrol noticed the overloaded van and gave chase with flashing lights and siren. A. tore through uninterested, cut the police twice dangerously and stopped at the Pottendorf exit. “Because we blocked the driver’s door, he kicked a girl off the passenger seat so he could get out,” said an officer who ran after the fleeing man and fired four shots into the air. A. could be placed in a field.

The 36-year-old accepted the sentence – three years and two months unconditionally.

Two years in prison for a failed pastry chef
The second trial yesterday was quickly told: a Syrian, now a Swede, flew from Denmark to Hungary to take 30 people across the border to Austria. The 35-year-old, who was promised 25,000 euros, was stopped in Neumarkt an der Raab. The cleaning lady wants to switch to confectionery after the two years in prison he was released.
