Four people were injured in a traffic accident in the municipality of St. Martin near Lofer (Salzburg) on Tuesday. The reason: the drunk driver fell asleep for a while.
A 58-year-old resident was driving on Pinzgauer Straße (B311) from Lofer towards Saalfelden. As a result of a micro nap, the man entered the oncoming lane and hit the oncoming car of a 64-year-old German. He then crashed head-on into the car of a 21-year-old German driver behind him.
The driver of the accident, the passenger in the hit vehicle and the two occupants of the following vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to the hospitals in Zell am See and Bad Reichenhall. The passenger of the vehicle that was hit was flown by rescue helicopter to Salzburg State Hospital.
Everyone involved was detained. An alcohol test at the person who caused the accident revealed a value of 0.54 promille.
