A mountain tour in the Tyrolean Oberland ended Tuesday afternoon for a 61-year-old German in hospital. The hiker had tripped and then fallen 40 meters over steep terrain. He had to be rescued with a helicopter rope.
The 61-year-old German was walking late Tuesday afternoon from the Leiterjöchl towards the Württemberger Haus in the municipality of Zams (Landeck district) when he suddenly stumbled. And that had fatal consequences.
The man remained lying on the ledge
“The man then fell about 40 meters down over steep, rocky terrain before coming to rest on a ledge,” police said.
Companions immediately sounded the alarm
The climber suffered head injuries, among other things. His companions immediately made a distress call. “The German was eventually rescued with the rescue helicopter on a rope and then flown to the hospital in Zams,” the researchers conclude.
