“Give guarantee” – Kiev does not use Western weapons in Russia

Date:

According to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine has promised not to use weapons from Western allies on Russian soil. “If our partners ask us to give a guarantee that this or that weapon will only be used on the territory of Ukraine, we will give that guarantee and respect it,” Kuleba said in an interview. Kiev has given and kept such guarantees a number of times, Kuleba explains.

Ukrainian troops, meanwhile, reported successes on the southeastern front. They were advancing south of Uroschaine, military spokesman Andriy Kovaliov said. He gave no details. On Wednesday, Ukraine announced the capture of Uroschaine. A cargo ship launched in Ukraine is expected in Istanbul in the evening. From London it was said that Ukraine has enough energy reserves for the winter.

45,000 Moscow residents are fighting in Ukraine
According to the mayor of Moscow, 45 thousand residents of the capital are fighting in Ukraine. They made up a “significant part of the fighters there,” Sergei Sobyanin said, according to Russia’s Interfax news agency. At least 5,000 of the deployed Muscovites are professional soldiers. The Russian and Ukrainian authorities rarely provide information on the number of fighters involved or the casualties suffered.

In early August, former Russian president and deputy chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said Russia had recruited more than 230,000 additional soldiers since the beginning of the year. Last September, President Vladimir Putin announced a “partial mobilization” of 300,000 people to bolster the ranks.

This announcement – the first such mobilization in Russia since World War II – caused shocked reactions across Russia. For his part, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said last year that the Russian army would be expanded to 1.5 million troops in view of the offensive in Ukraine.
