A brutal burglary and robbery took place in Vienna’s Ensgasse on Thursday afternoon. Through a ruse, three men managed to gain access to the home of an 87-year-old. The suspects took a safe and its contents with them. So far there is no trace of the robbers.
Around 14.1.45 three men stood at the door of the elderly gentleman. They pretended to the man that they had to inspect the apartment for any damage after water damage in the house.
Knocked to the ground and tied up
After the 87-year-old let the men into the apartment, they pushed him to the ground and tied him up. They then ripped a piece of furniture safely out of its anchorage and took it and its contents with them.
The police were looking for a robber
The tied man was able to free himself. A neighbor alerted the police. So far there is no trace of the perpetrators. A direct search for the alleged perpetrators has so far turned up nothing. The visibly shaken victim sustained minor abrasions to his arms and legs.
Description of the suspects
According to the 87-year-old, the suspects were unmasked, middle-aged, dressed in dark clothing and 175 to 185 cm tall. It is said that he was remarkably muscular and wore a brown coat. The Viennese detective has taken over the investigation.
