Emergency services were called in on Saturday at a construction site in Michelhausen (Tuln district in Lower Austria). Eight fire brigades with 120 members and 21 vehicles responded. A crane on the construction site in the Pixendorf residential park threatened to fall, 19 people from adjacent apartment buildings were temporarily taken to safety for safety reasons. The extinguishing work lasted until noon.
The flames broke out near the formwork of the freshly concreted basement ceiling shortly before 4 a.m. for an initially unknown reason, the Tulln City Fire Service reports on its website. “As the formwork was in full fire and the stability of the concrete slab could not be guaranteed, the extinguishing work had to be carried out from outside,” it says.
The fire was under control in the morning. After the extinguishing work, the cause of the fire was investigated. After the expert had examined the construction crane for damage, the evacuation was stopped at 10.30 am. The Red Cross was deployed with 16 members.
