Witnesses warned the police in Salzburg on Thursday about an unusual operation: a lamb sat in the back seat of a car. It later turned out that a man (49) wanted to take the animal to his farm in Berlin after it was rejected by the ewe in Croatia.
The witnesses were stunned when they informed police of an unusual case on Thursday. There is a car with a young lamb in it in the Schwarzstrasse in Salzburg. When officers arrived on the scene, they actually found the animal. He was sitting in the back seat of a car with German license plates with the window slightly open.
Waitress should play babysitter
But the lamb called “Chili” didn’t just sit there. The driver had built a cozy place for the young animal with a cardboard box, a blanket and some hay. According to the police, a waitress from a nearby restaurant had been appointed to supervise. But where was the owner?
Rejected by mother
The 49-year-old German was visiting a puppet theater. He had to break off the visit and the police immediately transferred him. The man got the lamb in Croatia. This was rejected by the ewe on July 7th. Because he has a great love for animals, he decided to take the lamb home and care for it on his farm. During transport, the lamb always sat in the middle of the back seat – between the two children – and was cared for.
The officials notified an official veterinarian, who referred to non-compliance with animal transport regulations. “Chili” was taken into the care of an animal welfare organization and quarantined for four weeks, and the facts were reported. The positive news for the 49-year-old: after the quarantine period has passed, he can collect the lamb from the animal welfare organization and transport it professionally to Berlin.
