On Wednesday afternoon, a 58-year-old holidaymaker from Denmark stood on the Nockalm Road. He suddenly slipped on the sodden road. The man suffered such serious injuries that he later died in hospital.
The Dane was on his way from the Glockenhütte towards the Reichenau plain at around 4.30 pm when the serious accident occurred. “Immediately before a left turn, the motorcycle’s steering wheel slipped and fell as a result,” said the police, who were able to observe the course of the accident because the 58-year-old had recorded his ride with a GoPro video camera. “When braking and shifting, the rear wheel must be locked.”
Bumped into a wooden peg
The Dane then slid a few meters across the road and his upper body hit a wooden post at the edge of the road. The C11 rescue helicopter team provided first aid and flew the 58-year-old to the clinic in Klagenfurt. He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday evening.
