As reported, a woman floating in the Mur on August 13 triggered a large-scale search. Since then, the police have been looking for the initially unknown woman. After the discovery of a corpse, the lady’s identity is now clear. A third-party error can be ruled out.
That Sunday afternoon, numerous patrols were sent to the Mur after passersby had previously reported that a woman was driving in the Mur. The result was multiple searches and searches with boats and divers. A police helicopter and drones were also used to search for the woman – initially without success. Even the publication of a photo of women’s summer shoes seized on the coast did not initially lead to a successful search.
The woman may have drowned
Last Saturday (August 19, 2023) a female body was finally found in the area of the Mur power plant in Graz (Lagergasse 346). The Public Prosecution Service in Graz then ordered the seizure of the body. The autopsy, which has since taken place, ultimately turned up no evidence of third-party negligence. According to forensic medicine, it is more likely that the woman drowned in the Mur. Chemical tests still pending should finally confirm this.
Identification done
According to research, the woman is a 26-year-old Romanian from Graz. She is said to have worked in a brothel in Graz and was reported missing a few days after the large-scale search. The 26-year-old could be identified on the basis of various physical characteristics and the circumstances of the seized shoes. The circumstances established so far point to an accident.
