“Enjoy the view” – carelessness, alcohol tore Wiener (19) out of life

Date:

It’s probably every parent’s absolute nightmare: their own teenage child leaves at night and never comes back. Over the weekend, krone.at reported, this scenario became a sad reality in the federal capital. Two young people risked their heads and necks for a beautiful view – a 19-year-old was found dead.

A mix of youthful carelessness and alcohol abruptly took the boy’s life in the early hours of Sunday morning. The night before started completely harmless: the Viennese initially traveled with a 20-year-old Slovak in the 7th district. But after a few cocktails in a bar, the two night owls made a fatal decision.

Apparently, the young man wanted to give his companion a spectacular view of Vienna at night. The couple went as a couple to a building complex on Lindengasse in Vienna-Neubau, which also has a parking garage.

Fatal fall in front of girlfriend’s eyes
The later victim of the accident should have known the conditions on the spot: There is the possibility to reach the roof via the stairwell and a ladder and then enjoy the view over the capital. The man continued – but on the way up he lost his balance and fell from the 6th floor into a light pit.

The shocked woman immediately raised the alarm, but all help came too late for the 19-year-old. “The man suffered life-threatening injuries from the fall and the emergency doctor was only able to determine death,” said police spokesman Christopher Verhnjak.
