It is common knowledge that eating our beloved schnitzel is not good for the climate. However, if you want to preserve this, you don’t have to just eat tofu. As a recent study shows, even small changes to your diet can have a big impact on your carbon footprint, reducing it by more than a third.
“Many people are concerned about climate change, but comprehensive dietary changes can be difficult,” said Anna Grummon, lead author of the study and assistant professor of pediatrics and health policy at Stanford School of Medicine in the US.
Together with researchers from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Grummon has identified a series of simple “food swaps” that can improve a person’s carbon footprint by more than 35 percent – without the need for a drastic change in diet. We reveal how.
