There’s been a lot of buzz about a luxury hotel in Sardinia that made headlines with a bizarre table setting. A chocolate-covered woman in a bikini lay among fruit and desserts at the poolside buffet last week.
A manager from Milan said he was speechless when he saw it. He posted a photo of the reclining woman on his LinkedIn page. Among them, he expressed his displeasure at the break with the modern values of Italian society. His daughter, who was also present, quoted Federico Mazzieri as saying: “Dad, that’s disgusting. This is not a country where you can realize yourself.”
Hotel tried to put it in perspective: ‘Only chocolate figurine’
It is also a mystery to many other guests of the Voi Hotel in Golfo Aranci what the operator actually wanted to achieve with the campaign. Mazzieri claims in his post that he was told it was just a “chocolate figurine”. For the Milanese, however, it is more a matter of humiliating the female body, which is equated with dishes.
The photo spread like wildfire on social media. The reactions from Italian politicians were also not long in coming. Alessandra Todde, Vice President of the Five Star Movement, called on her Instagram page for a rethinking of Italian society.
Promises are made not to provoke in the future
You should Changing the minds of those who “suggested this nonsense and thought it was a nice conversation,” Todde said (see post above). Laura Boldrini of the Democratic Party spoke of a “complete lack of respect for women”. The hotel said in a statement that it regretted the incident. In the future, it will be avoided that “every customer is offended”.
