A serious industrial accident occurred in Klagenfurt on Thursday morning. A worker fell from a truck and was also hit by a 500-pound tractor wheel.
The 54-year-old worker from Klagenfurt was on the company premises around 8:40 a.m. and was loading tractor tires onto the loading space of a truck. The 54-year-old was supported by a 40-year-old from Klagenfurt, who transported the tires to the loading area using a chain and hooks with an excavator. While loading the last tyre, the 54-year-old suddenly made a misstep and fell five feet from the cargo area, hitting his head on the paved floor.
Tire also fell to the ground
The last tractor tire that was lifted onto the loading bay weighed 250 kilograms, also fell off the loading bay and hit the worker lying on the ground. The rescue chain was immediately set in motion. The 54-year-old was given first aid at the scene by three emergency workers, the crew of an ambulance and the crew of the rescue helicopter C 11 and was then flown to the clinic in Klagenfurt.
