Physical overload, growth and bone damage: Although the use of strength training in adolescents is controversial, more and more adolescents are discovering their passion for muscle building at an early age. An expert shows how dangerous this development really is.

Young people’s attitudes towards strength training have changed considerably in recent years. Gyms used to have a manageable presence of young people, but sports facility operators are benefiting from growing demand from younger customers. This is also confirmed by Markus Luger, studio manager at Get U Fit Korneuburg: “Compared to last year, the proportion of members under the age of 18 has increased significantly”.
