One of the last warm days of this summer almost ended in tragedy in the Wels-Land district. A little boy was floating motionless in the pool when his father noticed him. The father brought the child back to life.
The two-year-old took advantage of an unnoticed moment to climb into the pool in the family garden in Schleissheim. He could not swim and was not wearing a wing or other swimming aid. He went down silently.
His father, 51, and five-year-old brother were unaware of the incident around 6 p.m. Thursday night, although they were also in the garden by the pool. Only when the father noticed that the little one had disappeared and looked into the pool, did he discover his son: he was already floating at the bottom of the pool.
The 51-year-old immediately jumped into the pool, pulled his son out of the water and began CPR. After about a minute, the child regained consciousness and vomited. The alerted emergency doctor took the boy to Linz University Hospital for clarification. According to the initial assessment, there is no danger to life.
