A married couple from Aschau sends a strong signal for understanding, peace and harmony at home.
A trip to Assisi and a love for Greece inspired Gabriela and Martin Kemmer to create a place of tranquility in the garden of their home in Aschau in the Oberwart district. In May 2022, the foundation stone of a Byzantine-style chapel was laid. Craftsmen and artists of the region resorted to ancient techniques to artfully execute the curves of the brickwork, windows and roof truss.
Motto cast in bell
“The interior and exterior design exude a beautiful atmosphere of peace and harmony,” the couple says. With a blue sky and a radiant sun, the chapel, which can be seen from afar, was dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. The motto “Et in terra pax” is cast in the bell: “And peace on earth”. 150 guests attended the memorable moment. Many more wanted to come, but there was not enough space in the private garden.
What remains is the candid message: “The Peace Chapel, created with great attention to detail, is freely accessible and open to anyone seeking silence.”
