A mysterious incident is keeping the Graz police busy: a young man went to the police station at Graz main station on Sunday – his whole nose was missing! It was later found in a garbage can. The victim’s version raises many questions.
Police officers were shocked when the mutilated man went to the inspection station at Graz Central Station shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday, August 20. The young man testified that his nose was cut in a bicycle accident on nearby Babenbergerstrasse.
While he was being transported to the hospital, the officers searched for the sensory organ with assistance dogs – and eventually found it in a residual waste bin. Clothing was also stained with blood. The nose was cooled and delivered to the LKH Graz, where, according to the “Kleiner Zeitung”, it was successfully sewn back on, but was not preserved due to the patient’s unwillingness to cooperate.
Connection to fight possible
The police can rule out a bicycle accident as the cause of the severed nose, says spokesman Fritz Grundnig about the ‘Krone’. Currently, this is being determined in several directions. It could be self-mutilation, but it could also be related to a bigger fight at Griesplatz that night.
