The beautiful weather brought countless nature lovers to the local mountains. Because some people underestimate the still winter conditions on elevated heights, they chose the emergency call. Two families and an experienced mountaineer from Germany were brought to safety by helicopter.
Around 4.30 pm on Saturday, the emergency call received the Mountain Rescue in St. Wolfgang in Upper Austria: two families – four adults and four children between the ages of nine and 17 – would be stuck on the north side of the Schafberg. “They were quickly found with the location of the mobile phone, the Libelle police dropped our mountain pastors close to them,” said Johannes Kritzanger, local manager of the St. Wolfgang Mountain Rescue.
The salvation was not easy: “We brought the eight people to a place through a ropeUe, from where they were flown to a safe place with the help of a climbing belt on the helicopter,” said Mountain Rescuer Michael Lippert. From there everyone was flown healthy and far into the valley.
“Snow always takes a long time”
“The snow lasts a long time on the north side of the Schafberg. The group had the wrong shoes, they had shorts,” said the long -lasting Mountain Rescuer. Because there are often operations in some places, there are already hooks for the rope back.
Second obligation nearby
Only about 30 kilometers away, on the Mahdlgupf-climbing climbing near Steinbach am Attersee, had left an experienced climbing (42) from Germany on Sunday. He was saved by rope after a short search and came to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Bad Ischl after the First Aid.
Third use in the same weekend
Moments later, an accident happened on the nearby Eibensee near Ebensee: a locals (51) slid on a root while descending and ended up so unhappy on her back that it was injured on the ribs and only had a hard air. It was also restored by Mountain Vines per mountain and after the first medical care at the landing site to the Salzkammergut Clinic Gmunden.
