Paragliding has been on the rise since Corona. Saman Kheyrmanesh practices this sport between total freedom and risky forces of nature. What does he enjoy? “As soon as I take off, my mind goes blank.” But to get along halfway through, you need training — and lots of practice.
“Are you never afraid?” is the first question I ask Saman Kheyrmanesh (33, Wels-Land District). Immediately after a soft landing at flight school Ternberg, he is packing his paraglider. I get a happy smile in response at first, and then he admits, “Every time before I start, my pump goes faster. But as soon as I take off, there’s only the screen and everything in the air. No matter how stressful my day-to-day life is, I have to switch off completely – and that feels good.”
