A brutal bloody crime that took place almost seven years ago in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia should have been clarified: the husband of the murdered Dorota G., who disappeared without a trace in October 2016, is said to be the then 29-year-old. Grotesque: The suspect took the body with him when he moved to a new home years later.
Since October 18, 2016, Dorota G. from Süsterseel has been swallowed by the earth. Her husband Manfred G. reported her missing three days later. She left the house after an argument and he hasn’t heard from her since. However, her glasses, which she urgently needed, and her mobile phone were not taken. That made the investigators suspicious: the house and property were searched, even the adjacent forest was combed. Despite the deployment of helicopters, radar equipment, cadaver dogs and divers, there was no trace of the Germans.
Jealous husband hid GPS tracker in victim’s pocket
However, the researchers soon realized that the marriage was no longer happy: the later victim had a new boyfriend with whom she wanted to start a new life with her seven-year-old son. A week before her disappearance, a heated argument broke out, police said. When Dorota G. was on holiday in the Netherlands with her new partner, her husband had hidden a GPS transmitter in her pocket so that she could follow her every step.
Dorota G. disappeared from this house:
On the day of her disappearance, the 29-year-old had a chat with her boyfriend – when she sent him pictures of herself in her underwear, Manfred G. must have completely freaked out. Shortly after the bloody crime, he was considered a prime suspect, became embroiled in contradictions and was arrested. But investigators eventually had to let him go. “It was not possible to press charges at the time because we could not find the body,” says chief prosecutor Wilhelm Muckel.
Body taken with move and put in shed
Years later, the police finally noticed something strange: Although Manfred G. had been living with his girlfriend in a new house in the neighboring town of Geilenkirchen for about two years, he still had the rented house in Süsterseel. “There had to be something interesting for him,” explains the head of the homicide division, Michael Fritsch-Hörmann, explaining the considerations of the investigators. But to the surprise of the investigators, Dorota’s body was eventually discovered in a shed near the new home and not in the house in Süsterseel where she had lived with the suspect. So her husband had taken her decomposed body when they went unnoticed.
The remains were probably moved several times
But why was the body not discovered seven years ago when the police turned up their house in Süsterseel? The suspect may have hidden the body somewhere else after the crime. When the investigation was complete, he should have brought the body back home. Sniffer dogs found the attic, which also had a large stain on the floor. The body of the murdered woman must have been lying there for years.
After an initial examination of the remains, researchers suspect that Dorota G. was strangled. “We assume that he killed her by blows to the neck,” said the chief prosecutor. The only injuries discovered were bruises to the neck. But the autopsy has not yet been fully completed, it was emphasized.
