‘Avoid getting drunk’ – Meloni’s partner was furious with Sager about being raped

Date:

In Italy, the statements of Giorgia Meloni’s partner about rape are currently being criticized. You can prevent certain problems by not getting drunk, the journalist said on television on Monday evening. He was subsequently charged with perpetrator-victim reversal.

“When you go dancing you have every right to get drunk – there shouldn’t be any misunderstandings and problems here – but if you avoid getting drunk and losing your mind you can also avoid getting into some trouble and becoming a wolf encounter,” said Andrea Giambruno. The partner of the Italian Prime Minister moderates the program “Diario del giorno” (diary) on a private channel.

With his words he was commenting on the gang rape of a young woman (19) in Palermo, which made headlines (see video above). But he would not have claimed that men are free to rape drunk women, Giambruno clarified later Wednesday in an interview with the Milan daily Corriere della Sera. Some politicians would now jump on the wrong head. He only advised young people against drug and alcohol use.

Opposition: Teach guys to show respect
Criticism of the journalist’s statements came, among others, from opposition politician Cecilia D’Elia. “I tell Giambruno that boys should learn to be respectful, not girls should be careful,” she said. The Five Star Movement even asked the media group to take action against Giambruno. His television career took off after his partner Meloni became prime minister of a right-wing government in October.

The journalist has caused controversy several times in the past. In July, for example, he told German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach to stay home in the Black Forest after raising questions about the future of tourism in southern Europe due to the heat.
