Thanks to an attentive branch manager, a thieving duo from Belarus in Judenburg (Styria) was put to rest. The duo are suspected of stealing liquor worth several hundred euros – and they were in Austria despite the residence ban.
Around 9 a.m., the manager of a supermarket in Judenburg caught one of the two Belarusians red-handed stealing liquor. When she tried to confront the man, he fled. Observant passers-by noticed the getaway car and the police were able to stop the car quickly. The fugitive and his passenger were arrested. More spirits worth several hundred euros were found in the trunk of the car.
Both those arrested have confessed to commercial theft. Both men (28 and 34 years old) are also not allowed to reside in Austria. The Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum ordered the admission to the police detention center in Graz. You will be reported to the Leoben public prosecutor’s office.
