After the violent drone attack on Wednesday evening at the Russian airport Pskov in the city of the same name, satellite images have now appeared. They include two damaged Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft.
A whole swarm of drones, consisting of about ten to twenty unmanned aerial vehicles, attacked the Russian city of Pskov on Wednesday night. The destination: the airport. Explosions, gunshots and sirens were heard and a great fire broke out.
Satellite images taken after the attack on the airport are now circulating online. They come from the company “Planet Labs” and are issued by the Ukrainian project “Schemy”.
Damaged near the wings
One plane can be seen damaged near the wings (see tweet above), aviation expert Anatoly Khrapchinsky told “Schemy.” According to his prediction, this can be repaired in two to three months. He suspects the drones should have hit the fuel tank.
Ukrainian military intelligence HUR spokesman Andriy Yusov said the day before that four aircraft had been destroyed and several others damaged during the drone strike.
‘Schemy’ assumes that the other aircraft attacked were in a different part of the airport and could not be seen due to the cloudy sky.
Revenge for Boucha?
Pskov airport was hit by drones on Wednesday night. Among other things, transport aircraft of the Ilyushin Il-76 type are stationed there, which are deployed by pilots of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of the Russian army.
These include the 234th Airborne Regiment from Pskov, which was identified during the fighting around Bucha in March 2022. Reporters blame it for targeting civilians in the area.
