Due to noise pollution, annoyed neighbor threatened: “Break your bones!”

Date:

An irritated Tyrolean (42) apparently felt compelled to write a threatening letter to neighbors because of noise pollution. In it, the woman announced that she would break their bones. That is how she ended up before the court in Innsbruck.

You wouldn’t wish a neighbor like that on anyone. But there are probably several. Because it is estimated that almost a quarter of Austrians have had problems with neighbors or residents. Common trigger for the argument: noise!

Desert verbal abuse and threats
The 42-year-old from Kufstein has also felt for months that her young neighbors are disturbing her peace. But at the beginning of April, the former student would have crossed the line. In an anonymous letter, the alleged troublemakers were not only abused, but also threatened. “Didn’t I tell you to abide by the house rules or I’ll break your bones,” it read.

Refused to testify in court
“I am innocent. I will not say more about it,” said the 42-year-old, who has already been convicted several times and has now ended up in court because of the threatening letter. But one of the recipients made it very clear: “Otherwise no one in the house has ever complained about us. She’s been insulting us since we moved here.”

Nor should it have been the first such letter. “In one of them she gave herself away because she complained that she had to go to the police because of us.”

Don’t judge definitively yet
The judge had no doubts, especially since the defendant’s handwriting matches the letter. He imposed a prison sentence of up to three years – not legally binding – and a fine of 1,600 euros. And the woman was lucky that a suspended suspended sentence was not revoked.
