Ten prior convictions, two additional convictions, all mostly relevant. After hours of interrogation of the victim, the trial in Vorarlberg had to be postponed again on Thursday.
Another entry on the criminal record for serious bodily injury is in the residence. This time because the suspect allegedly seriously assaulted his girlfriend at the time in her apartment in Höchst in mid-April. Since then, the 40-year-old Croat has been held in custody in Feldkirch prison. Already during the first hearing on July 28 (the ‘Krone’ reported) the man had largely denied the allegations.
Victims confirmed the allegations
The 40-year-old victim was questioned on Thursday in the presence of an interpreter. This confirmed that the suspect had punched in the face that morning in April this year. The death threat that he would tie a stone around her neck and sink her into the lake or bury her alive is also based on facts. He also smashed a pair of glasses, grabbed them by the neck and forced them to kneel on the shards. When she tried to call the police, he broke her cell phone. “He then threw me on the couch and hit me again. Then he fled,” the interpreter translates the tormented woman.
Does the victim have a drinking problem?
When asked by prosecutor Karin Dragosits why she only went to the police in the evening, eleven hours after the crime, the Croat replied that she may have been unconscious. Since a traffic accident, she just falls over. The lady would not answer the legitimate question of whether she had been drinking the night before the crime or whether she had an alcohol problem. Because eleven hours after the crime, she was still measured at 1.16 promille. The public prosecutor also recalls another interrogation, in which the police officer noted in the report that despite three per thousand, the Croat seemed oriented.
More testimonials are needed
Because the victim keeps coming up with new ‘stories’ during the three-hour interrogation and moreover claims that the police officer did not take the correct minutes, more witnesses are now needed. The trial was suspended again.
