A tragic industrial accident took place in Fontanella (Vorarlberg) on Friday afternoon. A 55-year-old farmer suffered a serious accident while spreading liquid manure. He suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be resuscitated.
The man was fertilizing a pasture on the Alpe Fatnella with a special agricultural vehicle to which a tank for liquid fertilizer was attached when the accident occurred: when reversing, the trailer fell over an embankment, carrying the towing vehicle and its occupants with it . .
The team then overturned several times – the farmer was thrown from the driver’s cab and left lying on the pasture with serious injuries.
His only luck was that there were alpine helpers immediately. They managed to revive the motionless farmer before the emergency doctor arrived. He was then flown by the crew of the rescue helicopter “Christophorus 8” to the state hospital in Feldkirch, where he is currently being cared for in intensive care.
