Young people in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya have to wait an hour and a half or even longer for the bus to get to HTL Karlstein, which is less than twenty kilometers away. That leads to criticism, because you fight for every student there anyway. But why in the country itself with the school bus – probably the best functioning public transport there – is not always easy.
The HTL Karlstein in the Waldviertel is celebrating two anniversaries: 150 years of watch school and 30 years of HTL for mechatronics. However, only 155 students are expected for the new school year. Despite the already poor occupancy rate, this is less than last year. “How many students should go to our HTL if it is far from being reasonably accessible?” said the district chairman of the representatives of the SPÖ community, Kurt Lobenschuss, enthusiastically.
