A Macedonian imprisoned for attempted murder was set to be released from prison in St. Pölten in a spectacular fashion.
It was an act of liberation as the mafia could have planned. You don’t really know such scenes from St. Pölten – see you on Thursday!
As the “Krone” discovered, the escape attempt on Andreas-Hofer-Strasse, planned with military precision, initially went according to script. A car had come to a stop in front of the building complex, which was secured with barbed wire and screeching tires. Within seconds, two masked men jumped out of the vehicle.
The order: A Macedonian imprisoned for attempted murder must be pulled over the wall with a rope. But this plan went horribly wrong. The rope broke!
The prisoner fell to the floor in prison and was seriously injured. Prison guards rushed to the aid of the failed escapee. He was admitted to the St. Pölten State Hospital and treated in an emergency.
His two escape helpers (apparently compatriots) ran off. An immediate search for the accomplices was initially unsuccessful.
