Two young men attacked a taxi driver in Weitwörth near Nußdorf on Friday evening. However, the suspects had a pang of conscience at the attempted robbery and allowed themselves to be arrested by the police.
The two Germans got into the taxi of a 54-year-old man from Flachgau and asked him to take them to a remote forest near Weitwörth. There, the 18 and 20-year-olds got out under a pretext. The younger boy pushed the taxi driver to the ground and threatened him with a pocketknife. The 20-year-old, who police said planned the robbery, suddenly had a pang of conscience and asked his friend to end the robbery.
The taxi driver himself could call the police. As a result, the two perpetrators, who were still with the taxi driver, were arrested. They stated that they had sold the stolen car abroad. The victim was unharmed. The police took the two Germans to Salzburg prison on the orders of the Salzburg public prosecutor.
