In the case of the arrested dog abuser from Ansfelden (Upper Austria), the district police command Linz-Land announced more details about the raid on Friday. The investigations are still ongoing.
There were a total of 44 dogs that – as reported – were able to free police officers alive during the big raid on Friday from the basement dungeon of the old “Bauernsacherls” in Ansfelden. Three other dogs were found dead. Patrol officers had previously noticed neglected animals there. Because the 45-year-old owner behaved uncooperatively, the public prosecutor of Linz ordered a house search.
dogs in the basement
Inside the house—and especially in the basement where the dogs were housed—sanitary conditions were devastating. The four-legged friends, emaciated, dehydrated and covered in wounds, were rescued from tiny, totally filthy cages. They are said to have been bred for dog fighting.
8500 rounds of ammunition
Surprisingly, the officers also found large quantities of weapons in the living quarters. A total of 26 firearms (various long firearms, pistols, alarm weapons and airsoft weapons) were seized. In addition, 51 associated magazines and 8543 rounds of ammunition.
But that was not all: large quantities of narcotics (speed, cocaine, cannabis, tablets) were also discovered, as well as counterfeit money and Nazi memorabilia.
Suspect is silent
The dogs were placed in the care of animal welfare organizations. The 45-year-old suspect was immediately arrested. As reported, he is now in custody, but he is adamantly silent about the allegations. The investigation into the motive and possible financiers is still in full swing.
